IHI means Ishikawajima Heavy Industries, a large Japanese technical company that is active in many sectors. In 1952 a joint-venture with Koehring was started for the
production of excavators and cranes in Japan, this cooperation was continued until 1975, after that IHI continued on her own. At the end of the 90-ties was a cooperation with
Terex started, where IHI crawler cranes were sold under the branding Terex American in the USA and under the Demag branding in Europe. In return was IHI responsible for the sale
and service of Demag products in Japan. In 2016 became IHI part of the Kato group. Crawler cranes with a lifting capacity of 250 tonnes are now sold under the Kato brand.
