For the transport of an approx. 100 tonne steam locomotive between the rails and a museum in Göppingen (DE) was Paule from Stuttgart (DE) deploying a 4-axle Mercedes-Benz Actros 4163 with 12-axle trailer. The locomotive was loaded by a Liebherr LTM 1200-5.1 of Kran-Maurer and a Grove GMK5250L of Paule.
After loading was the trailer from the load location pushed onto the public road. Here is the coupling attached to the reinforced bumper of the trucks used.
Then the combination was moved to a parking.
The driver is moving the combination with impressive cargo nimble over the roundabout.
The combination was temporary parked along the the Poststraße in Göppingen (DE) because the transport is only allowed to drive through the city in the evening.
The combination exists out of a ballasted Mercedes-Benz Actros 4163 with a 12-axle Goldhofer THP/UT modular trailer.
The Actros 4163 is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 473 LA, a 15.6-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 460 kW (625 hp). This truck has both rear axles powered, both front axles are steerable.
On top of the rear axles is the ballast box mounted that takes care for sufficient pressure on the driven axles. The truck has a maximum total mass of 41 tonnes. Behind the front axle are the AdBluetank and a storage compartment made.
At the rear of the chassis is a heavy coupling mounted. This truck is prepared for train weights up to 250 tonnes.
Behind the cabin is a large equipment tower with dieseltank, hydraulic oil tank, compressed-air tanks and a cooler for the hydraulic oil. Behind the front axle is on this side the large Euro 6 muffler installed.
A very sharp truck in the Paule colours!
Such an impressive combination with cargo gets a lot of attention!
The cargo is steam locomotive 44 1315, in 1942 new supplied to the Deutsche Bahn and was in use until 1977. The locomotive was built by Krupp in Essen (DE) and belongs now to the city of Kornwestheim (DE) that borrowed the locomotive in 2018 to the Märklin museum. The locomotive is about 15 meters long, 3.1 meters wide and 4.55 meters tall. The mass without the tender is approx. 100 tonnes.
Around 7:00 PM are the preparations for the transport through the city visible, such large transports in Germany are usually escorted by the police. Because the transport was well announced in the local media, there were many bystanders.
Through the Poststraße bends the transport to the left into the Theodor-Heuss-Straße. The combination has to climb upwards now.
Through the Friedrich-Ebert-Straße arrives the transport in the Burgstraße. This is a long straight road through the city, the combination must avoid all the streetlamps and traffic signs.
Then the transport makes a left turn into the Lorcherstraße.
This was the most challenging turn in the route. The closer the transport came to the destination, the more public was looking at it along the road.
The last turn to the right into the Stuttgarterstraße, this road will lead to the Märklin musem. Unfortunatelly was it already getting dark and to crowded to take proper photos of the transport. A very beautiful and special transport by Paule!
