This sharp Mercedes-Benz Actros 4165 of Feldmann from Schmerikon (CH) was used by the transport of steel cables in supervision of Wipfli. Wipfli was using her own special MAN TGX 53.540 also. Feldmann is operating two of these identical 4165 trucks with 8x6-drive line.
The truck is powered by the strongest engine ever used on Mercedes-Benz trucks, the OM 502 LA, a 15.9 liter V8 diesel engine with a power of 653 hp. The truck was modified by Titan from Sulzbach (DE) for heavy operations. The base was a 6x6-truck where a non-driven pusher axle was added to to make it a 8x6-truck. Further was a VIAB turbo coupling installed, the equipment tower behind the cabin and are the chassis and bumper reinforced.
A truck with 8x6-drive line is in Switzerland not very special because 25% of the total mass of combinations that can drive faster than 40 km/h should rest on driven axles. The truck has a cardanic fifth wheel and a heavy coupling, but it looks like that attachments for a ballast box are missing.
Behind the cabin are the large diesel tank, the hydraulic oil tank, cooler for the VIAB turbo coupling, the battery and compressed-air tanks. In front of the tank is a large storage compartment made. Behind the front axle are the air filter and the AdBlue tank mounted.
Feldmann is owning in total 23 Goldhofer THP/ET axles, that are composed here to a 4-bed-7 trailer.
Between the axles is a transport frame from Goldhofer for the transport of heavy cable reels installed. To reduce the transport height to 4 meters is the top of the reel flattened. The cargo weights around 99 tonnes.
Some more photos made during the transport.
A very imposing transport by Feldmann and Wipfli!
