This impressive Mercedes-Benz Actros 4160 of Baumann from Bonn (DE) was pulling an impressive Greiner girder bridge on two 14-axle Goldhofer modules. The cargo is a 362 tonne cable reel that was unloaded by two Gottwald AK 450/83.
The truck is a Mercedes-Benz Actros 4160 with 8x6-drive line. The truck is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA, a 15.9-liter V8 diesel engine with 600 hp. The front and last two axles are powered.
This is the shortest combination of the trailer, a double 14-liner. That could be, by 2 axles per module, extended up to a double 22-liner. The transport mass is then, unloaden, about 180 tonnes. The overall length of this combination is, incl. braking vehicle about 84 meters. On the modules are cabines placed where the modules from are operated. The shortest turning circle is about 31 meters of this combination up to 41 meters with a double 22-liner.
The girder bridge can be used for cargos up to 550 tonnes.
The bridge is coupled to the module trailer and is a product of Greiner. For a better load share-out are beams used with a pre-tension and only pushing on the trailer under load.
The bridge is in width extendable. Slopes, either front- and sidewards are compensated by the hydraulic cylinders.
The load, in this case a 362 tonne cable reel, is loaded on two cross beams which are lay down on the bridge. The trailer can (un)load it self.
The truck has a total mass of approx. 41 tonnes. A very sharp truck of Baumann!
