This fine Terex CC 2800-1 belongs to Tiong Woon from Singapore (SG) and was deployed, on behalf of Yew Choon, to load heavy piles from land onto a pontoon. This crane was deployed because Yew Choon's own cranes, the Demag CC 2800 and the Liebherr LR 1750/2, were not available.

Because of the water level, work had to start early; it is 7:30 AM and the first pile is already suspended in the crane.

These piles each weigh 180 tonnes.

For the internal transport of the piles from the storage area to the crane, this fine Scania R 620 with a 12-axle trailer was deployed.

The carrier of the CC 2800-1 is 11.66 metres long and 9.9 metres wide.

A total of 180 tonnes of ballast is mounted on the superstructure. This ballast consists of a 20-tonne base plate and a total of sixteen blocks of 10 tonnes each.

Here, the crane was erected with a 54-metre main boom and 30 metres of superlift. Here, the second pile of that morning is already being lifted.

The third pile is already being driven towards the crane. The 12-axle trailer consists of two 6-axle Goldhofer modules with a short spacer bridge simulating a length of two axle lines. The piles are each 26.48 metres long, 6.77 metres wide and 6.65 metres high. The weight per piece is 180 tonnes.

The crane is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA, a 15.9-litre 8-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 390 kW (530 hp). The diesel engine drives a total of five hydraulic pumps.

Mounted in the superstructure are two 16-tonne hoist winches with 28 mm hoist rope and the luffing winch for the main boom.

The crawler tracks are each 11.66 metres long, 1.5 metres wide and 1.69 metres high. The crawler tracks weigh 44 tonnes each.

A total of 60 tonnes of central ballast is mounted on the carrier.

Time to rig the last pile.

Here, the crane was erected in SSL configuration. The main boom has a base length of 36 metres and can be extended in 6-metre increments to a maximum of 84 metres. Here, work is being carried out with a 300-tonne hook with 15 falls of rope.

In total, the crane is now lifting 189 tonnes here; the hook and rigging weigh 9 tonnes.

The piles are lifted onto the pontoon at a maximum radius of 29 metres.

When the piles are set onto the pontoon, the superlift ballast has to be used; the tray weighs a total of 220 tonnes.

A very fine crane from Tiong Woon!
