This sharp Terex AC 160-2 belongs to Tiong Woon from Singapore (SG) and was used to hoist tower crane components on a storage yard. It is a 160-tonne mobile crane with telescopic boom mounted on a five-axle carrier.
The crane is fitted with a six-part main boom with a 13.1 meter base length and extends five times to a maximum length of 63.9 meters. Optionally is the main boom to be extended by a 9.0 - 17.0 meter long bi-fold swingaway jib. This jib can be mounted in a 0, 20 or 40 degree angle towards the main boom.
The carrier is powered by a DaimlerChrysler OM 502 LA, an 8-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 380 kW (516 hp). This crane has the standard 10x8x8-drive line, where the axles 2 to 5 are powered and the axles 1, 2, 4 and 5 are steerable.
In transit is the crane 15.25 meters long, 3 meters wide and 4 meters tall. The transport mass is approx. 73 tonnes in this configuration. On the carrier are 10 tonnes of counterweight stored during the transport over the road.
Attached to the superstructure is 5.3 tonnes of counterweight, the counterweight has a 4.53 meter tailswing. The crane is fitted with 10-tonne hoist winches with a 21 mm hoist wire rope.
The remaining counterweight does geometrically not fit on the crane and must be transported by trailer. This trailer brings 38.9 tonnes of counterweight.
The outrigger base measures 8.23 x 7.5 meters, or half 8.23 x 5.4 meters.
Here was the crane fitted with 39 tonnes of counterweight, the full counterweight weights 54.2 tonnes.
During the transport over the road are the four outrigger plates stored in a rack at the rear of the carrier.
The main boom is extended here to a length of 26.9 meters. In this configuration is the crane able to hoist maximum 100.5 tonnes on a 4 meter radius or 9.8 tonnes to a 24 meter radius.
Here are two tower sections for a tower crane lifted from storage for transport to Hong Kong. This weights around 20 tonnes.
A sharp crane and job by Tiong Woon!
