I could photograph this Terex AC 250-1 of GAM Aldaiturriaga in a weekend, when he was parked along the road in the small village Barasoain (ES), near Pamplona (ES).
It is a 250 tonne crane on 6 axles and a mass of 72 tonnes. The crane is jacked up to prevent theft.
The undercarriage engine is a Mercedes-Benz with 612 hp. Four axles are driven with them (2, 4, 5 and 6). 5 of the 6 axles are steerable (1, 2, 3, 5 and 6).
The boom has an 80 meter length when he's fully extended. Then still 9.3 tonnes are hoisted at 18 meter radius and 1.6 tonnes on a 74 meter radius. The boom is extendable with a 20 meter folding jib, also possible is a 16 meter boom extension.
Packed is the crane 17 meters long, 3 meters wide and 4 meters height.
In the boomhead are only 6 pullies made, with them it is possible to hoist 134.5 tonnes. To hoist the max. load of 197 tonnes, a special attachment should be used, which is called S1V.
The outrigger base of the crane measures 8.7 x 8.5 meters, or half, 8.7 x 5.54 meters.
The maximum counterweight weights 96.6 tonnes and has a 5.6 meter tailswing. The counterweight exists out of 5 slabs (52.3 tonnes) that could be extended with 4 hang-on slabs with 11 and 11.1 tonnes.
A detail of the counterweight connection. The two small cylinders pull the counterweights upwards, after the are swinged in the piles of the counterweight baseplats. A second winch could be attached to the rear of the crane.
The crane is still in the standard Terex colors.
