Since 2012 is BKV from Barneveld (NL) operating two of these Terex Challenger 3160 cranes. It is a 3-axle crane in the 55-tonne class.
The crane has a length of 11.49 meters, a breadth of 2.55 meters and a height of 3.66 meters. The transport mass is approx. 36 tonnes.
The undercarriage of the crane is powered by Mercedes-Benz engine with a power of 240 kW (326 hp). This crane has the optional 6x6x6-drive line where all axles are powered and steerable. The engine in the undercarriage is also used to power the hydraulic pumps in the superstructure.
During the transport over the road is 3.5 tonnes of counterweight stored on the undercarriage.
The outrigger base of the crane measures 6.9 x 6.5 meters, or half 6.9 x 4.5 meters.
A total of 3.2 tonnes of counterweight remains attached to the superstructure. The full counterweight weights 6.8 tonnes and has a 3.59 meter tailswing.
The crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 35.6 tonnes, this is limited by the three pullies (6 reevings) in the boom head. The boom has a base length of 10.3 meters and extends five times to a full length of 50 meters.
A folding jib isn't available, but it is possible to attach a small assembly jib to the main boom head.
On the 2-axle trailer are many lifting tools transported which are usually required on construction sites.
After Terex started using the branding Demag again was this crane sold as Demag AC 55-3, in the future will this crane be sold as Tadano AC 3.055-1. A very sharp crane in the colours of BKV!
