Tadano ATF 400G-6 - Mayer

The biggest crane of Mayer from Burgberg (DE) is this sharp Tadano ATF 400G-6, it is a 400 tonne crane on a 6 axle carrier. This crane has production number 2 and was the first crane that was supplied to the customer.

The crane was used here as a 250 tonne crane on a large construction site where a hall out of precast concrete elements was built. The Tadano is unloading here the sharp Volvo FH16 750 of Brenner.

The 6 axle crane carrier is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA, an 8 cylinder diesel engine with 653 hp. 4 of the 6 axles are driven, all axles are steerable.

Packed has the crane a 19 meter length, a 3 meter breadth and a 4 meter height. It's transport weight is 72 tonnes.

The crane is fitted here with 78 tonnes of counterweight. The counterweight exists out of three base plates of 7, 8.5 and 9 tonnes, with two hang-on slabs with each 11 tonnes and a 11 tonne wide plate on top of that. Next to the frame are two slabs with each 10 tonnes lay down. The full counterweight weights 138 tonnes, another six 10 tonne slabs are required for that.

The outrigger base measures 8.9 x 8.5 meters.

The main boom has a 15 meter base length and is fully extended 60 meters long. The boom is extended here 45.4 meters. The main boom length can be increased by a 12 meter lattice jib, more possibilities has Mayer not.

The elements hava a mass of around 20 tonnes. The tailswing is 5.6 meters.

The first 25 tonnes and the outrigger pads are transported on a 3 axle trailer. The other counterweight is transported on random trailers.

The superstructure is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 926 LA, a 6 cylinder diesel engine with 265 hp.

Lateron that day are the longer beams with a 30 meter length and a 33.4 tonne mass delivered.

Transport by a sharp Scania R 560 with 3 axle dolly of Brenner, that was driving with three combinations between the construction site and the element factory.

On the rear of the crane is hanging a large box with wood and smaller lifting tools.

The main boom could be extendes by a luffing jib with a max. length of 78 meters. Around 120 meters of hook height are possible then.

Relocating for the last time to erect the last three beams.

One of the largest cranes in the south of Germany! A very sharp and fresh crane.
