Sumitomo LS-238RH-5

Van der Meijden

This very fine Sumitomo LS-238RH-5 belonged to Van der Meijden from Koudekerk a/d Rijn (NL) and was deployed here on a construction site in Heerhugowaard (NL). It is a 100-ton crawler crane.

The undercarriage is 7.79 meters long and 6.065 meters wide. The crane is powered by a Mitsubishi 6D22CT, a 6-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 250 hp.

A single crawler track is 7.79 meters long, 0.965 meters wide, and 1.255 meters high.

The 7-piece counterweight has a total weight of 34.2 tons and a slewing radius of 5.5 meters.

A detail of the base section, adjustment mechanism of the luffing jib, and the A-frame. The top of the A-frame is 7.5 meters high. The crane is equipped with two 10-ton hoist winches.

The crane was equipped with a luffing jib. In this configuration, the main boom has a maximum length of 48.8 meters and the jib a maximum length of 44.2 meters. Here, the crane was erected with a 30.5-meter main boom and a jib length of 32 meters.

Van der Meijden operated its own fleet of crawler cranes, primarily used for the installation of precast concrete elements. The largest crane in the fleet was a Liebherr LR 1200.
