This special Liebherr LR 1140 of Zwagerman VMT from Nederhorst den Berg (NL) was used as assist crane for a MV-rig on a large construction site in Eemshaven (NL). It is a 140-tonne crawler crane.
A special detail is the in-height adjustable cabin, where the crane operator can be elevated to a 9 meter height for a better overview on his work. This option was original from Liebherr. During the transport over the road is the mast folded backwards over the superstructure.
The LR 1140 was relative fast upgraded to LR 1160. The LR 1160 has central counterweight, 10.2 tonnes of counterweight more and of course an improved load chart. The crane is powered by a Liebherr D 926 TI diesel engine.
The undercarriage is 8.47 meters long and 6.8 meters wide. For the transport over the road are the tracks dismantled, their mass each is 18.8 tonnes.
The crane has 44.9 tonnes of counterweight, that exists out of a 14.3 tonne base plate and six blocks with each 5.1 tonnes. The tailswing of the counterweight is 6.45 meters.
Here is the crane fitted with a 60.8 meter long main boom.
Attached to the main boom head is a special traverse mounted to allow the crane making perpendicular lifting movements, without damaging the original rope pullies in the main boom head. Two hooks are in use.
Here is the crane doing a lift, a 45 meter long MV-pile will be lifted and installed on the MV-rig.
The leader of the MV-rig is mounted in a 45 degree angle. The position the MV-pile on the leader is it required to bring the pile in a 45 degree angle. This can be achieved with use of the two hooks.
An interesting use for the crane! Today is this crane not in operation anymore with Zwagerman VMT.
