Saan from Diemen (NL) owned two of these Liebherr LTM 1160/2 cranes from their yards in Diemen and Tilburg (NL). The crane was used here on a large construction site in Diemen to dismantle a Liebherr LR 1160 of Zwagerman VMT. Today the cranes are not used by Saan anymore.
It is a 160-tonne crane on a 5-axle undercarriage. Packed is the crane 15.27 meters long, 3 meters wide and 4 meters high. The transport mass is around 60 tonnes.
The undercarriage is powered by a Liebherr D 9408 TI, an 8-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 400 kW (544 ps). This crane has the optional 10x8-drive line and can achieve a driving speed of 76 km/h on the road. All axles are steerable.
The outrigger base measures 8.85 x 8.3 meters or half 8.85 x 5.0 meters.
The crane stood erected here with 23 tonnes of counterweight, that has a 4.51 meter tailswing. The maximum counterweight weights 50 tonnes.
The main boom has a 13.2 meter base length and extends five times to a maximum length of 60 meters. The bi-fold swingaway jib has a 22 meter length and can be extended by two 7-meter lattice sections to a total length of 36 meters.
The crane was used here to dismantle a crawler crane.
A few weeks later I saw the other LTM 1160/2, here fitted with a 12.2-meter folding jib, erected by a replica of an old ship that was used to shoot a movie.
