Liebherr LR 1350/1
Mammoet
This fine Liebherr LR 1350/1 of Mammoet from Schiedam (NL) was used together with a Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1, also from Mammoet, to lift a heavy skid weighing 290 tons onto a pontoon. It is a 350-ton crawler crane from the year of manufacture 2003.
The undercarriage is 9.7 metres long and 8.4 metres wide. For road transport, the crawler tracks must be separated from the body. A single track is 9.7 metres long, 1.2 metres wide and 1.53 metres high, with a weight of 23 tons per unit.
The crane is powered by a Liebherr six-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 270 kW (367 hp). A maximum of 38 tons of central ballast can be mounted on the undercarriage; in this case this is not entirely required due to the superlift configuration. In this instance, a total of 8 tons of central ballast is installed, in the form of large walkway plates, ensuring that the cab can still be reached safely.
Here the crane was used with a ballast wagon; the ballast wagon is positioned at a minimum counter radius of 11 metres and can be extended to a counter radius of up to 15 metres. A maximum of 215 tons of ballast can be placed on the ballast wagon.
A total of 85 tons of ballast is mounted on the superstructure, consisting of fourteen 5-ton blocks on a 15-ton base plate. The ballast has a slewing radius of 7.1 metres.
For this job, only 140 tons of ballast on the ballast wagon was required. This ballast consists of nine modular 10-ton ballast plates, 20 tons of ballast in the form of 5-ton plates, and four blocks of 7.5 tons each that are normally used as central ballast. In order to rotate the wheel assemblies beneath the ballast wagon, these must be partially unloaded using the hydraulic outriggers.
Here the crane was assembled in S2DBW configuration; heavy main boom in superlift configuration with ballast wagon. The superlift boom is 27 metres long, and the main boom has a length of 36 metres. When the correct ballast and reeving are applied, the crane can lift a maximum of 300 tons at a radius of 14 metres or 116 tons at a radius of up to 34 metres.
