Lifting of a skid by Mammoet

In 2009, Mammoet had to lift a 290-ton skid from the quay in IJmuiden (NL) onto a pontoon. This skid had been constructed elsewhere in the port area and was transported to the quay by SPMT.

The equipment used to lift this skid consisted of the Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 (left) and a Liebherr LR 1350/1 (right). The lifting operation has already started here.

This skid will be used in the North Sea.

The LTM 11200-9.1 has extended its main boom to a length of 43.3 metres, while the LR 1350/1 is operating here with a 30-metre main boom.

The LTM 11200-9.1 is configured with the full ballast of 202 tonnes. The outrigger base measures 13 x 13 metres.

The LR 1350/1 is equipped with a 27-metre superlift boom and ballast wagon.

Relatively quickly, the load is positioned above the pontoon.

The LR 1350/1 is configured with 85 tonnes of ballast on the superstructure. A further 140 tonnes of ballast are placed on the ballast wagon.

The skid is placed onto the pontoon quickly, after which the cranes can be disconnected.

The pontoon immediately departs for the North Sea, where a large offshore crane will place this skid onto a foundation structure. A fine and efficient lifting operation carried out by Mammoet!
