Kranprofis from Pforzen (DE) is operating this special Grove GSK55, a 55-tonne crane that is mounted on a 3-axle trailer.
It is the superstructure of a Grove GMK3055 that is installed on a 3-axle trailer. The trailer is towed by a stradard truck. The advantage of this concept is, that the crane can be relocated with much lesser permits, what for AT-cranes in some regions in Germany is linked to a lot of paper work.
For extra manoeuvrability is the front axle liftable and the rear axle steerable. With the minimum counterweight will the combination remain below a total mass of 40 tonnes. The combination has, with a 2-axle truck, a total length of approx. 14.1 meters.
The crane is powered by a Iveco 4-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 104 kW (142 hp). The engine is installed in front of the trailer and poweres the oil pumps to operate the outriggers and crane functions. During the transport over the road is the boom pointing forwards and is the hook stower in the black bowl.
On this side is the 300 liter diesel tank installed in front of the first axle. The full counterweight weights 13.6 tonnes, that has a 3.32 meter tailswing.
The outrigger base measures 6.52 x 6.2 meters.
The 6-part main boom has a 9.6 meter base length and extends five times to a total length of 42.9 meters.
The crane was erected on a storage yard with Wolff tower crane parts, also by Kranprofis.
