This Franna AT-20 of an unknown company was used as assist crane for the Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 of TopGun Cranes. It is a 20-tonne pick and- carry crane.
The crane is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 906 LA, a 6-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 205 kW /(275 hp). The crane can reach a velocity on the motorway of 90 km/h. The crane has rigid axles, the chassis can rotate in the middle.
From a single cabin is the crane operated and driven. In front of the cabin is an 800 liter storage compartment for rigging gear made.
The hoist winch is attached to the rear of the boom, the main adventage is that the hoist rope doesn't get overloaded if the boom is adjusted in angle. The crane has a 4.2-tonne hoist winch and the boom is in angle 60 degrees adjustable.
The crane has a 4-part main boom with a 5.67 meter base length that extends three times to a maximum length of 17.9 meters. A small fixed jib makes the boom 20.8 meters long. The maximum load of 20 tonnes can only be hoisted on a fixed lifting point at the bottom of the base section. Over the boom head a maximum load of 16.8 tonnes can be lifted.
Franna cranes are in Australia very populair. They are often used as an assist crane to larger cranes. A good thing with these cranes is that they can drive with load.
A funny crane to see in action!
