To lift two heavy installation parts in the harbour of Düsseldorf (DE), Wagenborg Nedlift used both of it's largest cranes; both Liebherr LR 1750 crawler cranes. The first part, a gas turbine, will be lifted at first out of the ship.
Both Liebherr LR 1750 are fitted with a 49 meter main boom and a 31.5 meter derrick boom. The crane in the front hat year of manufacture 2009, the rear one 2013. It was the first time that both crane were doing a tandem lift together.
The 481.5 tonne gas turbine was lifted quickly.
The SPMT (also of Wagenborg Nedlift) is arriving and will transport the parts into the power plant. The assist crane, a Liebherr LTM 1200-5.1, is positioned left of the crawler cranes. When the gas turbine has reached the correct height the crawler cranes will drive backwards. The SPMT will drive in front of the crawler cranes to get loaded there.
The gas turbine is loaded on a double 16 axle SPMT (Self Propelled Modular Transporter) and can be unpicked with some force. The gas turbine is 13.57 meters long, 5.94 meters wide and 5.55 meters heigh.
Over a temporary made road is the SPMT driving with a max. speed of 5 km/h to the power plant. The double coupled SPMT has a 5.33 meter width and is 26.6 meters long.
The SPMT is a product of Scheuerle and is driven by only one PPU (Power Pack Unit). The theoretical capacity of this double 16 axle is 1,152 tonnes.
The gas turbine will be mounted with hall cranes in the power plant. In the meanwhile are the LR 1750 cranes preparing for the next lift. A part of the derrick counterweight is hanging in the hook, the tray is attached and the cranes are driving forwards.
The second lift of a generator that will be lifted out of the ship quickly. Both parts are made by Siemens in Germany.
The generator is with 450 tonnes a bit 'lighter' than the gas turbine. The derrick counterweight has been changed and is also a bit lighter.
Because the SPMT wasn't ready the generator is shorty put on the ground. The generator is 13.6 meters long, 4.5 meters wide and 4.15 meters heigh. Note the different hooks of the LR 1750 cranes; left is a 400 tonne hook and right is a 600 tonne hook. Another beautiful crane job done by Wagenborg Nedlift!
