In July 2013, Saan got the order to disassmble the well-known "Kraan 13" at the old NDSM-yard (Amsterdam-North (NL)). The crane will be overhauled and will be transformed to hotel!
At first the crane is pulled forwards by two towing trucks. The crane hasn't moved since his last working day in 1984, a good 29 year period.
Behind the crane is standing a ballast truck of Saan, to brake the crane.
Saan was using by this job her Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1. As assist crane was a Liebherr LTM 1095-5.1 with folding jib in use, with a man basket to attach the loads.
The LTM 1400-7.1 is put up with 140 tonnes of counterweight and the YSL boom guying.
The first part of the counterweight is removed from the counter jib, such a concrete disk weights about 26 tonnes.
The boom of the LTM 1400-7.1 is fully extended, 60 meters.
The second disk counterweight weights also 26 tonnes.
The the LTM 1400-7.1 is attached to the tower head, the complete upperstructure will be removed from the tower in one lift.
The second crane, the Liebherr LTM 1220-5.2 is attached tot he jib in order to keep the upperstructure horizontal.
The complete upperstructure weights about 45 tonnes is now hanging in both cranes. From out the man basket is the connection with the tower removed.
The upperstructure is about 70 meters long and is temporary stored on supports.
From the supports, the upperstructure will be loaded on a pontoon, that will bring the parts to Franeker (NL), where the construction will be overhauled.
The LTM 1220-5.2 is put up with the full counterweight of 74 tonnes.
The LTM 1400-7.1 was removed backwards in order to load the upperstructure on the pontoon.
