Testing cablepans by Boekestijn

By Birkhoff Staalbouw from Pernis (NL) were for a customer two cablepans built. Those are storge boxes for cables in the sea. Before they got delivered, thay have to be tested under full loading, wherefore crane rental company Boekestijn was hired. Birkhoff Staalbouw could be seen before on this website; so was a beam in Zoetermeer (NL) lifted.

Boekestijn was using their biggest cranes; the Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 and a Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 to lift the cablepans with the test load and to put them on the pontoon. A Liebherr LTM 1150-6.1 was on site as assist crane for the big cranes and to lft the test weights in the pans.

The round storage boxes are filled with 220 tonnes of counterweight. The self-weight of the cablepan is about 60 tonnes. From colleque Wagenborg Nedlift was a 350 tonne multibeam in use.

The first test was succesfully carried out, the cablepan is directly loaded on the pontoon.

The LTM 1750 has extended the boom up to 49.1 meters. The LTM 1500 has extended the boom up to 47.3 meters.

Both cranes have the YSL boom guying in use.

The cablepans are on a 40 meter reach loaded on the pontoon.

The second one could be picked up and set between the cranes.

The LTM 1500 is put up with the full counterweight of 165 tonnes, the LTM 1750 with 124 tonnes. That can be extended up to 204 tonnes.

The next test lift could start. When the cablepan with test weights are hanging in the air, it must be tested statically for some minutes.

The photo above was also chosen for the Liebherr Ehingen calendar 2015.
