A Volvo FH 500 of Holtrop & Van der Vlist from Assen (NL) stood with a large Caterpillar dumper from Germany parked on the border near to Venlo (NL). Holtrop & Van der Vlist is using four of these special 8x2 trucks and was also partly responsible for the development of them.
The base was a Volvo FH 500 with 6x2 drive line and a fixed liftable pusher axle was added. The truck is allowed for a maximum weight of 35 tonnes.
Behind the cabin are two large storage compartments and a diesel tank made. Between the first two axles are the Adblue tank and a small storage compartment stowed.
The truck is powered by a Volvo D13B; a 12.8 liter 6 cylinder diesel engine with 500 hp.
Attached is a 3 axle Nooteboom Euro 55-03 low loader, this combination may load 50 tonnes of cargo.
The load is this imposing Caterpillar 769C dumptruck with a mass of around 31 tonnes. The dumper is 4.5 meters wide and 3.8 meters heigh.
On this side is the muffler made between the first two axles. In 2013 this combination was delivered.
A very beautiful and clever combination!
