This sharp Mercedes-Benz Actros 4165 of Daher Projects GmbH from Leese (DE) was used in Oberottmarshausen (DE) to transport a heavy generator to the sub station. The generator was mainly transported by rail to Oberottmarshausen and only required to travel over the street for about 1.2 kilometers.
Here is the generator already loaded onto the 14-axle modular trailer and now the transport will need to wait until the Deutsche Bahn is giving a time frame to cross the rail.
Daher took over the Heavy Cargo + Service devision over from Deutsche Bahn in 2007 and is specialized in doing heavy transports for the energy sector. In 2020 took Kübler from Michelfeld-Erlin (DE) the fleet, staff and activities over from Daher Projects. In the meantime are the first vehicles already repainted into the typical green colours.
The truck is this sharp Mercedes-Benz Actros 4165 that is powered by the strongest engine ever supplied in a standard Mercedes-Benz truck; the OM 502 LA, a 15.9-liter V8-diesel engine with a power of 480 kW (653 hp). The truck was modified by Titan from Solzbach (DE) for the heavy duty works. The base was a 6x6-truck and a non-drive second axle was added to make it to a 8x6-truck. Also a VIAB turbo coupling was installed, the equipment tower behind the cabin and are the chassis and bumper reinforced.
Daher is also doing transports sometimes that aren't appreciated by some environmental organizations. To protect the activists are multiple parts (like the coupling on the front bumper) and the opening behind the first axle covered. It is also possible to install a grid screen in front of the windows to protect the drivers.
Above the last three axles is the ballst box installed that brings the total weight of the truck to approx. 41 tonnes.
Behind the cabin are the large diesel tank, compressed-air tanks and a cooler for the VIAB turbo coupling installed. Behind the front axle is the AdBlue tank installed.
Attached is a 14-axle Scheuerle modular trailer, composed out of a 6-axle module and two 4-axle modules.
The cargo is a generator with a mass of 268.2 tonnes. The generator is 11.23 meters long, 4.13 meters wide and 4.1 meters tall.
Along both sides of the generator are the transport beams of each 33 tonnes still attached, the generator was loaded onto these beams during the rail transport and later they are required to unload and install the generator on site. The total weight of the transport is approx. 441 tonnes!
After the lunch break is the heavy transport about to roll... three spinning axles and a twisting chassis; the Actros 4165 requires all his power here!
The transport should wait at the end of the Bahnhofstraße until the Deutsche Bahn approves the passing of the rail way, this should be done within a certain time frame.
Now is the transport allowed to take a right turn into the Hauptstraße. This street is now temporary closed by the police.
Here is the transport passing the railway crossing.
And after the railway crossing has been passed is the transport taking another right turn into the Wehringer Straße.
The transport is rolling with a low speed of approx. 4 to 5 km/h. The sub station is located at the end of this long straigth road.
The distance of 1.2 km is driven in approx. 30 minutes.
The third and last right turn will bring the transport in front of the gate. A very sharp transport done by Daher!
