Bau-Trans is using from their branch in Vaduz (LI) this sharp Mercedes-Benz Actros 4160. The combination stood parked here at the border between Schaanwald (LI) and Feldkirch (AT) because the transport can start to drive from 10:00 PM in Austria. The destination is a hydro power plant somewhere high in the Austrian mountains.
The truck is a Mercedes-Benz Actros 4160 with 8x6-drive line. The truck is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA, a 15.9 liter V8 diesel engine with 600 hp.
The ballast box above the three driven axles weights around 27 tonnes and takes care for enough pressure on the driven axles of the truck. The total mass of the truck is around 41 tonnes.
Behind the cabin are the large diesel tank, hydraulic oil tank, compressed-air tanks, the battery and a cooler for the WSK 400 torque converter installed. Behind the front axle are the muffler and a storage compartment made.
The bumper of the truck is reinforced and has a large register coupling, so that other transports can be pushed and braked. Behind the front axle are the AdBlue tank and another storage compartment made.
At the rear of the chassis is a heavy Rockinger coupling installed.
Attached is a very interesting trailer, a girder bridge between two 9-axle Goldhofer modular trailers.
The girder bridge was for the transport required to make the sharp corners. Because the bridge is in height adjustable is it easier to take roundabouts or to move over crash-barriers.
The cargo is the lower part of a stator made by GE. The part is in transport frame 9.5 meters long, 3.9 meters wide and 4.1 meters high. The total mass is 128 tonnes where the transport frame weights already 29 tonnes.
The combination has a total mass of around 300 tonnes.
A bit smaller and a bit less power (382 kW; 519 hp) - not not less special - is this passing by Ferrari F50.
