This sharp Liebherr LB 28 of Kurt Motz from Illertissen (DE) was used to drill piles for a new office building in Biberach an der Riss (DE) using the kelly drilling method.
In the leader is hanging a Liebherr BAT 320 rotary head with a torque of 320 kNm and maximum 47 rpm. At the feet of the leader are three winched made.
The rig is powered by a Liebherr D 946 A7 diesel engine with 523 hp. The engine powers three hydraulic pumps to operate all the movements.
The undercarriage is 5.9 meters long and 4.7 meters wide. The tracks are 0.9 meters wide. For the transport over the road is the undercarriage retracktable up to 3.5 meters. It is possible to attach auxilary equipment to the undercarriage.
The counterweight weights 17.2 tonnes and exists out of a 5.2 tonne base plate and two slabs with each 6 tonnes. The tailswing is 4.36 meters.
The leader has a total height of 27.2 meters. It is possible to work 15 degrees backwards and 5 degrees forwards and sideways.
Durig kelly drilling a casing is drilled into the ground and later emptied using an auger and then filled with rebar and concrete.
