Woltman THW A-3000 PDS - De Klerk

The largest heavy duty crane that De Klerk from Werkendam (NL) is deploying is this sharp Woltman THW A-3000 PDS, a 300-tonne crane. This is the first crane of this type built by Woltman. Usually is this crane used from ship "Westerschelde" for all kinds of piling- and lifting jobs.

The undercarriage was purchased from Liebherr and is similar to the undercarriage used on the LR 1300. The undercarriage is 9.65 meters long and 8 meters wide. The superstructure was developed as a 280-tonne heavy duty crawler crane, but was later already upgraded to 300-tonner. The crane is powered by a Caterpillar C-13 diesel engine with a power of 350 kW (475 hp).

The crane is fitted with two 20-tonne hoist winches and a 15-tonne auxiliary winch.

The counterweight weights 94.5 tonnes and has a 6.74 meter tailswing. When the crane is equipped with the leader for piling jobs, are between the main boom head and the two supports behind the counterweight two large struts installed to avoid the main boom being pushed over the back.

On the front side is the leader attached to the sliding table for stabilisation and adjustment. The leader has a standard length of 55 meters and has a capacity of 60 tonnes (pile and hammer). The maximum leader length is 60 meters.

The working ship "Westerschelde" is 64 meters long and 15.55 meters wide.

The main boom has an 18 meter base length and can be extended in 3 meter steps to a length of 62 meters. The crane was fitted here with a 45 meter main boom, the crane is in this configuration able to hoist maximum 155.2 tonnes on a 7 meter radius or 23.5 tonnes on a 38 meter radius.

A very sharp and special crane from Dutch production that is used by De Klerk! A second THW A-3000 PDS is working for Dimco from Dordrecht (NL), part of the DEME group.
