This steam crane was built by manufacturer Orenstein & Koppel (O&K) from Lübeck (DE) and is standing on an old qauy in the german city Bremerhaven (DE) and is part of the German shipping museum (Deutsches Schiffartmuseum) collection.
The crane was built in 1939 and 1940 and was used until 1972 on the Kurt Bartels Werft near Oldenburg (DE) as a yard crane.
The crane is driven by a horizontal reversible twin-cilinder steam engine. These engine were often used in steam piling rigs and steam cranes because they are reversible.
The crane has a maximum working reach of 6 meters and a a max. capacity of 3 tonnes.
The crane could drive from itself, both axles are driven. The crane was also able to pull two to three loaded wagons on a flat surface.
A detail of the slewing ring, the crane has a 360 degree working range thanks to its bevelwheel reverse-gear unit.
The boom is rotatable, by adjusting the length of the two chains the boom could be adjusted in angle.
