Universal Cranes
This Manitowoc 16000 belongs to Universal Cranes from Murarrie (AU) and was erected on a pontoon in the Brisbane River (AU) to clear damage caused by flooding. It is a 400-tonne crawler crane that was erected here in superlift configuration.
The superlift boom is 30 metres long and is positioned as standard at a counter-radius of 11.19 metres. The main boom, in combination with superlift, has a base length of 42 metres and a maximum length of 96 metres. Here, the main boom is 58 metres long. In this configuration, the crane can lift a maximum of 215.5 tonnes at a radius of 12 metres or 22.1 tonnes up to a radius of 52 metres.
The carrier is 10.43 metres long and 8.84 metres wide. The crawler tracks are each 1.52 metres wide and 1.61 metres high. For transport on public roads, the crawler tracks are separated from the body and weigh 32.665 tonnes each.
A total of 54.43 tonnes of central ballast is mounted on the carrier.
The crane is powered by a Cummins QSX15-C500, a 15-litre diesel engine with an output of 372 kW (500 hp).
A total of 150.58 tonnes of ballast is mounted on the superstructure. The ballast consists of a 19.958-tonne base plate with a total of sixteen blocks weighing 8.164 tonnes each stacked on top. The ballast has a swing radius of 7.56 metres.
The luffing winch for the main boom is mounted in the base section of the superlift boom. A winch is mounted in the base section of the main boom that can be used to adjust the luffing jib or as an auxiliary winch. A third optional hoist winch could also be mounted in the base section, but is not fitted here.
Optionally, a MAX-ER ballast wagon can also be used in combination with the superlift boom. This can be positioned at a counter-radius of 13.3, 15.24 or 17.22 metres. A maximum of 230.97 tonnes of ballast can be stacked on the ballast wagon.
