Manitowoc 60-Foot Diameter Platform-Ringer

Titan Salvage

In 2009, this remarkable Manitowoc 60-Foot Diameter Platform-Ringer of Titan Salvage from Jacksonville, Florida (US) came to the Netherlands for a salvage operation, together with a Manitowoc 4100W of Lampson. It is a ringer crane with a maximum capacity of 350 US tons (317.5 metric tons).

Here the crane is assembled with a 200' (approx. 60.96 metres) long main boom and an 80' (approx. 24.38 metres) long backmast.

The crane therefore slews on a large ring with a diameter of 60' (approx. 18.29 metres) which is permanently mounted on a jack-up barge. The crane could be powered by three different diesel engines, with 6, 8 or 12 cylinders. The crane is equipped with ballast weighing 1,160,000 lbs (approx. 526.17 tons).

The crane is mounted on the jack-up barge Karlissa B, which is 170' (approx. 51.82 metres) long and 80' (approx. 24.38 metres) wide. This jack-up barge can be deployed in water depths of up to approximately 50 metres.

The backmast cannot be lowered without the assistance of another crane. This crane operates with two hoist hooks.

A very fine and special crane of Titan Salvage! This crane was used worldwide for various offshore salvage operations. Titan Salvage was later merged into Ardent, which in turn was acquired by Boskalis. The current status of this crane is unknown.
