Large equipment of Wiesbauer was required to remove an old railway bridge over the Buchenbach river near the german village Burgstetten (DE). The crane was erected on a specially prepared uplifted surface.
The old bridge from 1912 is located in the middle of a protected national park and coudn't be reached by a crane more closer to the bridge.
Wiesbauer from Bietigheim (DE) was using their largest crawler crane, the Liebherr LR 11000. This was the first LR 11000 that Wiesbauer was using with year of manufacture 2017, in the meantime is Wiesbauer using their third LR 11000 because the previous two units were sold to the USA.
The LR 11000 has a maximum lifting capacity of 1,000 tonnes and can lift that load on an 11 meter radius. The crane is powered by a Liebherr 8-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 500 kW (680 hp). It was the first industrial job for the crane, before the crane was used only for the erection of wind turbines.
The undercarriage of the crane is 12.44 meters long and 11.2 metes wide. The undercarriage exists out of a central part of 60 tonnes with the two 60 tonne tracks attached perpendicular to it.
The assist crane is this sharp Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1, also by Wiesbauer. The crane was busy here to prepare the counterweight on the superlift pallet.
Between the tracks is for this job only 10 tonnes of central counterweight required, maximum is it 90 tonnes.
The counterweight on the superstructure is here 170 tonnes, that has a 9.6 meter tailswing. The maximum counterweight on the superstructure is, depending on the configuration, 250 tonnes.
The crane is slewed above the superlift pallet and will be attached, then the bridge will be attached.
Here was the crane erected in SL2DB configuration with a 42 meter superlift and a 96 meter main boom. In this configuration is the main boom maximum 156 meters long.
One 23-tonne hoist winche with a 32 mm hoist cable is here in use.
The sharp railway bridge is hanging in the crane now, the crane is lifting here 64 tonnes in total (load, hook and rigging) on a 48 meter radius.
The bridge is more than 100 years old and will be replaced. The weight of the bridge is about 55 tonnes.
The superlift counterweight of 225 tonnes is floating so the crane can slew. The superlift radius is 20 meters.
Slowly is the crane slewing to the left. The impressive job was given a lot of attention by the media, the crane operator was filmed here during his work.
The olf railway bridge is 27.4 meters long and 7 meters wide. The brdige will be demolished directly.
Because of its geometry is it impossible to set-off the load, the bridge will be cutted into pieces directly.
The cutting would take some hours, a very impressive job by Wiesbauer! A couple of days later a temporary bridge would be installed with the same crane, in 2020 a new final bridge was installed by the second LR 11000 of Wiesbauer.
