The biggest crane of Riga Mainz from Mainz (DE) is this very sharp Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1, that I could photograph on a very narrow construction site in Schwäbisch Hall (DE). The crane was lifting here some modules for a temporary hospital.
It is a 750 tonne telescopic crane on 9 axles. The transport mass is about 108 tonnes. The outrigger base measures 12 x 12 meters.
Special is that the engine of the upperstructure is integrated in the counterweight frame. The upper engine is than only used durring the job. To put up the crane is the engine from the undercarriage used.
The crane was put up with the full 204 tonne counterweight. Existing out of a 11 tonne base plate, 170 tonnes in 5 and 10 tonne slabs and the counterweight frame of 23 tonnes. The tailswing of the counterweight is 8.33 meters.
The crane was fitted with a 52.5 meter luffing jib. The maximum length of the luffing jib is 91 meters.
The crane is here lifting a module over the temporary hospital. The existing hospital (left) will be demolished and build new in several phases.
These parts weight about 40 tonnes.
Because the crane was standing on a hill, the workers have to be creative by the rigging. At the right was the crane standing on 'elephantfeet'.
A very sharp crane!
