Earthmoving company Nowotnik from Erftstadt-Liblar (DE) bought in 2010 this new Liehherr HS 895 HD for a big excavating job near Neurath (DE).
It is a 200 tonne crane performed as a dragline.
The crane has a MAN D 2842 LE engine with 898 hp to drive the pumps.
Fitted with a 49.1 metre boom, the longest boomlength in dragline operation is 55.1 meters or 84.2 as lift crane. The pendants are made from carbon.
The undercarriage is 9.36 meters long and 6.8 meters wide. The tracks are 1.1 meters wide. The undercarriage has a tracktor travel, scilcet the crawler plates are mounted to a big chain and not to eachtother.
This crane is amply provided with walkways and a cage in front of the cab.
The fairlead below the boom foot.
The Hendrix bucket with a volume of 5 cubic meters.
Fitted with 55.1 tonnes of counterweight.
In the upperstructure are two 35 tonne winches and a boom cable.
The job was to dig down two dikes to create a flat area.
The reason to do this with a dragline and not with bulldozers is because the ground must subsidence minimal.
A operation with a dragline in dry ground is unfortunately an increasingly rare sight.
The farest ground is digged up from about 40 meters distance.
For the onlay was a smaller bulldozer used.
