This sharp Liebherr HS 882 HD was used as a dragline in a gravel pit. Before I could take photos on the same location of an other HS 882 HD digging gravel.
As a lifting crane is it a 120-tonne crane. The crane is powered by an 8-cylinder Mercedes-Benz OM 442 LA with 404 hp or optional by a 12-cylinder Mercedes-Benz OM 444 LA with 609 hp.
The undercarriage is 6.7 meters long and 4.92 meters wide.
The crane is fitted with 29.3 tonnes of counterweight, that exists out of a 24.1 tonne base plate and an additional plate of 5.2 tonnes. The tailswing of the counterweight is 5.51 meters.
The crane was operated here with a 7 cubic meter bucket.
The heavy engine is required to power the large hydraulic pumps. The HS 882 HD was available with 20, 25 or 30-tonne winches with freefall function.
The main boom has a 11 meter base length and can be extended in 3 meter steps to a total length of 50 meters. Here is the crane fitted with the 3-sheave hammer head, usually by the use as dragline is a different head used with two large sheaves, larger sheaves take care of longer life time of the hoist rope.
Here was the crane fitted with a 23 meter main boom, a sharp machine!
