This Liebherr LG 1750 of BMS was used in may 2012 to do some tests by a wind mill.
The tray with 250 tonnes of superlift counterweight, only necessary to raise up the long boom.
On the superstructure was hanging 220 tonnes of counterweigt. 200 tonnes in 12.5 tonne slobs hanging in 10 tonne chairs.
As assist crane is a Liebherr LTM 1150-6.1 of Van Marwijk used.
The blue is not the original color of BMS, that is using mainly green and white. The former owner of the crane is the spanish company Transbiaga. BMS has also a 1750 in own colors.
The big 8 axle undercarriage. With four outriggers the mass is 96 tonnes. As undercarriage engine is an 8-cylindre Liebherr diesel engine used with 680 hp. The superstructure is transported by truck.
Because the crane is put up with derrick boom, the outriggers are not extended (12 x 12 metres). This because the moment on the (extended) outriggers is too big by the superlift counterweight (max. 400 tonnes). Extended is the outrigger base 16 x 16 metres.
This crane is put up in SL7 DHS configuration, that is the configuration in superlift with a main boom out of main boom parts and the wind mill top section. In other configurations the main boom is tapered to luffing jib parts.
The crane is assembled with a 119 meter main boom and 6 meters of wind mill top section.
Some days later is the crane put up and some test are done with a rotorblade guying system.
This system was tested by Siemens. As can seen on the photos the clam with rotorblade can be rotated. With this system it is possible to hoist and mount blades by piece instead of the whole hub with blades. By Siemens wind mills it is not possible to rotate the hub like other wind mill manufactures can.
Parallel along the main boom are two cables strained where the blade guying system is attached to. A big adventage is that it is aloud to hoist with heigher wind spteeds.
