This sharp Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 of Baldwins from Berkshire (GB) stood near the airport of Birmingham (GB) for some lifting during the night. Baldwins is one of the largest crane rental companies in the United Kingdom and is operating cranes to 1,000 tonnes lifting capacity.
It is a 500-tonne crane on a 8-axle undercarriage. The undercarriage is powered by an 8-cylinder Liebherr D9508 A7 diesel engine with a power of 500 kW (680 hp). The crane has a 16x8x12-drive line, where the axles 1, 2, 4 and 5 are powered and the axles 1 to 4, 7 and 8 are steerable.
The outrigger base measures 10.0 meters in length and 9.6 meters in breadth.
The crane stood erected here with 105 tonnes of counterweight, that exists out of seven plates with each 15 tonnes. The counterweight has a 6.6 meter tailswing. To complete the counterweight to 165 tonnes are two towers stacked next to the winch frame. The winch frame with luffing winch for the luffing jib weights 21.5 tonnes, but isn't calculated in the total mass of the counterweight.
The superstructure is powered by a 6-cylinder Liebherr D936L A6 diesel engine with a power of 240 kW (326 hp). To operate the crane functions are four hydraulic pumps used. During the transport over the road is the cabin slewed behind the superstructure.
The 7-part main boom has a 16.1 meter base length and extends six times to a full length of 84 meters. To stabilize the main boom is the TY main boom guying in operation, in the United Kingdom is this crane allowed to travel with the long boom and TY legally on public roads.
A very sharp crane in the Baldwins colours!
