This sharp Liebherr LTM 1040-2.1 belongs to Auckland Cranes (today Universal Cranes) from Auckland (NZ) and was there used for the installation of facade elements. It is a 40-tonne crane mounted on a 2-axle carrier.
The crane is powered by a 6-cylindre Mercedes-Benz diesel engine with a power of 210 kW (286 hp). Both axles are powered and steerable. This diesel engine powers also two hydraulic pumps with them all four crane functions can be operated simoultaneously.
In transit is the crane 10.93 meters long, 2.55 meters wide and 3.6 meters tall. The transport mass of this crane is approx. 26 tonnes.
The outrigger base measures 6.3 x 6.03 meters. On the carrier is the 1.1-tonne counterweight base plate stored.
The full counterweight of the crane is 6.5 tonnes, the counterweight has a 3.33 meter tailswing. Here is the crane with only 2.1 tonnes of counterweight in operation. A sharp detail is the hoist winch mounted at the rear of the A-frame, by doing this it is possible to make the main boom as long as possible.
The 4-part main boom has a 10.5 meter base length and extends three times to a full length of 35 meters. The main boom can be extened by a 9.5 meter long jib, the jib is mechanically mountable to the main boom in an angle of 0, 20, 40 or 60 degrees.
A sharp crane of Auckland Cranes! This company has a large fleet of cranes, of which the largest is a Grove GMK7450.
