Hitachi CX1000

Achterdijk

This impressive Hitachi CX1000 belongs to Achterdijk Kranenverhuur from Leimuiden (NL). The original 100-tonne crawler crane has been upgraded to a 120-tonne capacity. This crane is equipped with additional counterweight slabs and a reinforced main boom.

The undercarriage is 8.07 metres long and 6.19 metres wide. The crane was manufactured in 1997 and was brought to Europe in 2003.

The crane is powered by an Isuzu 6RB1T, a 6-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 220 kW (300 hp).

A single crawler track is 8.07 metres long, 0.94 metres wide and 1.27 metres high. The weight per unit is 15 tonnes.

When the crawler tracks are separated from the upper structure, the base machine is placed on four outriggers. This allows the crane to unload itself from a trailer without assistance from another crane.

The standard counterweight consists of eight slabs and has a total weight of 39.2 tonnes; the slewing radius of the counterweight measures 4.99 metres. In the centre, a ninth counterweight block is installed that is not part of the standard configuration; its weight is unknown to me.

Three winches are installed in the superstructure. At the bottom, the luffing line of the main boom is visible; the two upper winches each have a line pull of 12.5 tonnes. In this case, the middle winch is used to adjust the luffing jib, while the upper winch is used as the hoisting winch.

Here, the crane was deployed with a luffing jib. The main boom has a length between 28 and 49 metres, while the luffing jib measures between 22 and 43 metres.

The main boom is 31 metres long and the luffing jib is also 31 metres long here. The main boom is positioned vertically at an angle of 90 degrees relative to the ground.

Achterdijk Kranenverhuur operates two cranes of this type. This crane was acquired second-hand from Boskalis.

A few months earlier, I was able to observe the crane in operation on an impressive job in Purmerend (NL). The main boom was 37 metres long here, while the luffing jib measured 31 metres. A very impressive crane by Achterdijk Kranenverhuur!
