Erecting a portal crane by Schot

Schot got the job to erect a 42 tonne portal crane in September 2009. For this job they use five of their own cranes and they hire an extra crane from Sarens.

The upper beam was hoisted in the early morning by the Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1 and two LTM 1250-6.1 of Schot and the hired Demag AC 700 of Sarens. The upper beam weights about 150 tonnes.

The upper beam is here at the final height. With help of the Liebherr LTM 1200/1 is the first leg hoisted.

A big, rectangle frame. The portal crane will be used to (un)load containers.

The AC 700 is installed with 60 tonnes of counterweight.

This is the first Liebherr LTM 1250-6.1 of Schot, this was one of the last jobs for this crane. It is working with 85 tonnes of counterweight.

The Liebherr LTM 1200/1 (ex-Hoogwout crane) was repainted in the Schot colours recently.

From the basket hanging in the Spierings a view from above, the second leg is mounted now.

Leg number three is already mounted and number four is hanging in the 200 tonne crane.

The Spierings SK1265-AT6 was used for some smaller lifting duties that day.

This is the second and latest LTM 1250-6.1 of Schot. This was the only job were both 1250 have worked together.

Subsequently there is a beam mounted between the legs and welded in place.

When the sun is going down the last beam is hoisted. Then it was time to weld the beams, a job that would take all night.
