End of 2022 took Bok Seng from Singapore (SG) this sharp Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 in operation. It is a 230-tonne crane mounted on a 5-axle carrier. These phots are taken during this first job of the crane. This is the fourth LTM 1230-5.1 in Singapore, the first unit was delivered to Kim Soon Lee in 2019.
The crane is powered by a Liebherr 6-cylinder diesel engine with 544 hp. Through an automatic transmission by ZF with 12 gears are three of the five axles driven (10 x 6), optionally can the third axle by driven also, but that is in Singapore not necessary. During crane operation are the hydraulic pumps to operate the crane functions also powered by the undercarriage engine.
The crane is replacing a Liebherr LTM 1350-6.1 that Bok Seng used for some years.
The full outrigger base measures 9.35 x 8.1 meters. The crane is fitted with VarioBase, a system where the crane is live calculation the lifting capacity based on the extended boom length, mounted counterweight and used outrigger base. A new set of outrigger pads was made for the crane, the pads are about 2 x 1.5 meters.
The crane can be operated with two different ballast radii, with 4.83 or with a 5.73 meter meter radius. The radius is to be chosen during the erection of the crane by positioning the consoles forwards or backwards. During the operation of the crane, the radius can't be changed anymore. Here was the crane only used with the basic counterweight of 12 tonnes on a 5.73 meter radius. The full counterweight of the crane weights 72 tonnes.
The 8-part main boom has a 12.7 meter base length and extends seven times to a maximum length of 75 meters. The main boom is here extended 24.8 meters.
The crane was used on a yard to lift some heavy pieces. Here is a sleeve for a hydraulic hammer with a mass of about 24 tonnes lifted.
The sleeve is loaded on one of Bok Seng's own low loaders.
The combination exists out of a MAN TGS 26.400 with 2-axle low loader.
In transit is the crane 15.8 meters long, 3 meters wide and 4 meters tall. During the transport over the road remains 12 tonnes of counterweight on the undercarriage, also remains the bi-fold swingaway jib next to the main boom. The transport mass of the crane is about 80 tonnes.
The outrigger pads are stored in a frame at the back of the carrier, in this configuration is the crane able to do smaller jobs without having the requirement of sending a truck with accesoiries.
Again a very sharp crane of Bok Seng! With thanks for posing the crane in a nice position!
