Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz is a brand of Daimler AG, a company arised after Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft and Benz fused to Daimler-Benz AG. Carl Benz built his first vehicle already in 1885, that is seen as the first car worldwide. Gottlieb Daimler built the first motorcycle and car with 4 wheels worldwide. Daimler was only building vehicles under his own name for 4 years. In 1900 a customer ordered 36 cars by Daimler on condition that these cars will carry the name Mercedes - the name of his daughter. Because these cars sold very well the name was kept. Gottlieb Daimler's idea was to build engines for use on land, sea and in the air. This is the idea behind the well-known three-pointed star in the circle as logo. After the fuse in 1926 the star stayed and the brand name was changed to Mercedes-Benz. The current Daimler AG is owner of several well-known brands, next to Mercedes-Benz (cars and trucks) also Freightliner, Western star, Setra (busses) and Mitsubitshi Fuso. In 2014 are working approx. 280,000 employees at Daimler AG, that has its main office in the German city Stuttgart.
