Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 - Boekestijn

Boekestijn from Maasland (NL) has (had) multiple Liebherr LTM 1500 and LTM 1500-8.1 in operation. This sharp LTM 1500-8.1 was together with the Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 from Boekestijn used to test cable pans for the company Birkhoff from Pernis (NL).

The 8-axle undercarriage is powered by a Liebherr D9508 A7, an 8-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 500 kW (680 hp). The axles 1, 2, 4 and 5 are powered. The axles 1 to 4, 7 and 8 are steerable.

The outrigger base measures 10 x 9.6 meters, or half 10 x 6.25 meters. The outrigger pads are transported on a trailer and are 4.2 meters long and 2.45 meters wide.

Here is the crane used with the maximum counterweight of 165 tonnes, with a tailswing of 6.6 meters. The counterweight exists out of seven slabs with each 15 tonnes and two stacks with each four 7.5 tonne slabs. The counterweight frame with the adjustment winch for the luffing jib weight 21.5 tonnes, but isn't counted as counterweight.

The crane was used here in TY3 configuration, with the 50 meter boom and the YSL (sideway) boom guying system. The boom is extended here 47.3 meters. In this configuration the crane can lift 134 tonnes on a 8 meter radius and 15 tonnes on a 46 meter radius. Optionally is a 84 meter long boom available, where the last part of the 50 meter boom is replaced by a set of four telescopic sections.

Together with the LTM 1750-9.1 were two cable pans tested, both cranes are lifting here around 280 tonnes, here the 750 tonne crane is lifting the biggest part.

A very sharp crane where manufacturer Liebherr produced around 600 units after its introduction during the Bauma of 1998.
