Grove GMK6300 - Gru-Lux

This sharp Grove GMK6300 of Gru-Lux from Ingeldorf (LU) was a long time the largest crane of the company and in the country of Luxembourg. In the meantime is Gru-Lux now operating a Grove GMK6400 that took over this position. The GMK6300 stood on a large construction site in the city of Luxembourg (LU) for the assembly of precast elements.

It is a 300-tonne crane that is installed on a 6-axle crane carrier. The crane's year of manufacture is 2004.

The undercarriage is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA, an 8-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 420 kW (571 hp). This crane has the optional 12x8x12-drive line, where four of the six axles are powered. All axles are steerable.

During the transport over the road has the crane an 18.05 meter length, a 2.98 meter width and a 3.95 meter height. The crane has a transport mass of 72 tonnes.

The outrigger base of the crane measures 8.7 x 8.5 meters, or half 8.7 x 6 meters.

At the rear of the chassis is a large box mounted for some wooden beams and lifting gear.

The crane's superstructure is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 906 LA, a 6-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 190 kW (258 hp). The engine powers four hydraulic pumps, which are required to operate the crane functions.

Here was the crane fitted with the full counterweight of 100 tonnes. The counterweight exists out of an 8-tonne base plate, three 14-tonne slabs, two 15-tonne lateral hang on slabs and two 10-tonne lateral hang on slabs. The counterweight has a 5.58 meter tailswing. Above the counterweight are the attachment points vissible for the second winch, that can be used to adjust the luffing jib.

The main boom has a 15.5 meter base length and extends four times to a total length of 60 meters. The main boom is here extended to 48.9 meters. In this configuration is the crane able to lift 47 tonnes on a 7 meter radius and 12.7 tonnes on a 44 meter radius.

A very sharp and tough crane in the Gru-Lux colours!
